Peter Pan
I'm not a huge fan of Peter Pan in any of its various incarnations, but I did like this production of Barrie's play by the UK's threesixty. As played out in the round with CGI projections on a 360 degree screen, the flying sequences from London to Neverland are thrilling. I also liked the use of props from the Darling's attic being used throughout the show; however, it does raise the issues of whether Peter Pan is real and if the kids actually ever leave the attic. I always thought of Peter Pan as being a literal figure, but was more interested in the figurative possibilities with this production. Kudos to the actress/director for making Tinker Bell a menacing, little punk-very fun!
Ovo by Cirque du Soleil
This recent touring show is typical of Cirque's tent shows with great acts and production design in an intimate space. The insect world setting though also gives rise to some fabulous costume designs. Highlights for me included the multiple diabolo juggler and the body jugglers. Plus, I never get tired of a good power track/trampoline/wall act!
