BBAJ: 1st weekend of shows!!!

We had two more shows this past weekend besides our preview performance on Thursday, which I already blogged about. Our official opening night was Friday and what a show it was! The theater was semi-full (105 out of a maximum capacity of 210) of family and friends (and critics!), and the cast was on fire! They were a very, very responsive audience, eating up every line and enthusiastically applauding each number. The reviews thankfully have been excellent and I've linked them below. Unfortunately, the cast keeps on adding to our injuries (Zach and I both bruised our ribs during our cholera death scenes earlier in the week) and opening night was no exception. During the finale, I accidentally whacked Stephanie in the nose with my elbow. OUCH!!! Fortunately, it wasn't broken, but she was in a lot of pain for a couple of days.

And then, there was Saturday night. We had a similar size audience (103), but boy were they quiet, especially compared to the two previous nights. It was so noticeable that it's all we could talk about backstage during the show. Not sure what was going on since we were giving the same performance and those we spoke to in the audience afterward said they thought it was great. Makes you go, "hmmm." At any rate, the cast needless to say was exhausted after hell week and the first weekend of performances.

Until next weekend, check out our reviews:
